Flemish Association of Classics Teachers

The Flemish Association of Classics Teachers regularly organizes activities that are especially aimed at Latin and Greek teachers. It can be lectures, courses, continuing education, didactic or cultural excursions etc. Some examples of past activities are the following:

Lectures:

• the Greeks' own belief in oracles;
• the position of Latin in the education curriculum;
• textual grammar in reading ancient texts.

Courses:

• the use of ICT in classics education.

Continuing education:

• Antiquity today;
• culture and living on of Antiquity, grammar, evaluation, translate and the use of translations;
• research competence with students;
• Latin and Greek in the 21st century;
• the use of cartoons in Latin and Greek courses;
• methods for reading ancient texts;
• the well-being and moving up of classics students;
• techniques of modern languages in approaching ancient texts.

Excursions:

• performance of Ovid's Metamorphoses;
• visit to the 'Europalia' exhibition Da Pompei a Roma;
• visit to the archaeological museum of Velzeke;
• visit to the Gallo-Roman weekend in Wervik.
